Who Am I?

Brooklyn-based Actor, Movement Director & Choreographer Jay Dunn creates unforgettably dynamic, story-driven, comedic & dramatic movement and choreography for plays and opera. In a former life, Jay was a professional blackjack card-counter with an offshoot of the legendary MIT crew. He made his living by strapping tens of thousands of dollars to his body and laying down huge bets in casinos all over the U.S. (legally), all while playing "Big Player" characters who would plausibly give that kind of high stakes action. An alum of Middlebury College, Jay earned his MFA equivalent from The Lecoq School, a conservatory with notable alums Geoffrey Rush, Julie Taymor and Isla Fisher.  Jay also plays guitar and banjo, is a certified CPR & First Aid Instructor. He currently teaches at the SUNY Purchase BFA program and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC.

• Working with Dutch Kills Theater to develop a new piece on immigration & displacement at North American Cultural Laboratory July 2024 for a run at The Tank NYC in January 2025

• Performing in Simon McBurney's Die Zauberflöte at NYC's Metropolitan Opera, Dutch National Opera (Amsterdam) & Palau de Les Arts (Valencia)

• Directed an physical ensemble-based tour of The Tempest for Catskill Mountain Shakespeare Company

• Wrapped Andy Mitton's feature horror film The Harbinger

• Performed in Weimar Nightfall with the LA Phil, directed by Simon McBurney of Complicité.

• Performed in Nature with Tigerlion Arts in Massachusetts

• Co-directed Music at the Close at Carnegie Hall.

• Directed the Off-Broadway premier of  Spoolie Girl.

• Opened the World Premier of The Village of Vale at Lincoln Center Education as Actor and Co- Movement Director.

• We Go On released on AMC's Shudder Network in March and the DVD/Blu-ray has dropped!

• My Car Gurus ad has racked up over 10,000,000 total views on Youtube!
